In order to simplify installation, MIMS on PDA uses components that, until now, have been present in the ROM of every Pocket PC. The ADOCE system components allow access to CEDB files - a proprietary Windows CE data source.
With Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft has decided to remove these components from the ROMs of Pocket PCs. Microsoft has said it would release the ADOCE runtime as a download for backwards compatibility. However, this is not yet available.
In order to run MIMS on PDA on devices that are running Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 for Pocket PC, the ADOCE files must be installed. Rather than wait for the official Microsoft redistributable files to be released, we have made available a distribution that will enable MIMS on PDA to run on these devices. The files in this distribution are provided by CMPMedica as an interim measure. They are mostly sourced from the embedded Visual Basic Runtime for Pocket PC 2003.
