2013 GPET Awards nominations are now open!
GPET is again celebrating outstanding achievement and excellence in Australian general practice training with the 2013 GPET Awards.
The awards will be presented at the 2013 GPET Convention which will be held at Crown, Perth WA 11-12 September.
Nominations are open from 1 April to 24 June. We encourage you to nominate your colleagues and peers and acknowledge their contributions, achievements and excellence in general practice education and training.

Home Medicines Review, HMR
HMR is a collaborative medication review service where general practitioners and pharmacists work together to improve patient medication management. If the patient lives at home and is at risk of medication mismanagement, then HMR can be utilised and Medicare Item 900 can be claimed annually. The item number includes referral and plan and is claimed after the plan is complete.

i heart my GP’ campaign – celebrating GPs in Australia
MIMS is a proud partner of the ‘i heart my GP’ campaign, a new initiative launched by General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) that encourages the Australian public to recognise the vital work of GPs by sharing stories of appreciation.

Members are encouraged to support this campaign by visiting the www.iheartmygp.com.au and sharing a story. Promotional ‘i heart my GP’ posters and other e-collateral can be downloaded from www.iheartmygp.com.au/contact-us and displayed in practices.

The Value of HMRs to General Practice
Adverse drug events from errors in medication are estimated to affect 10.4% of patients currently treated by GPs in Australia each year, of which half are classified as moderate to severe, 138,000 require hospitalisation, and as many as 18,000 may result in death according to some sources.(1) - is it time to take advantage of a Home Medicine Review (HMR)?
